Hi and welcome to Navigating Nutrition! My name is Christina Jaimes and I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
My interest in nutrition began in high school when I started playing for my school’s tennis team in upstate NY. From there, my inner science geek went on to pursue a dual degree in Biology and Biochemistry (an important basis of nutrition) at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA. After 4 scien-terrific years I headed further East to Boston where I received my Masters degree in Nutrition and Health Promotion from Simmons College. During my time in Boston, I had the privilege of spending a summer as an intern at NuVal, LLC. It was around this time that I was first introduced to blogging. That fall I began my first blog, FoodFunFabulous, to document my time as a nutrition student.
Upon completion from graduate school, I was on the move again – this time I headed West to complete my dietetic internship at Michigan State University. There I would spend 10 months working full-time and learning what was required to pass the national registration exam and become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
Now, with credentials in hand, I’ve settled down in Arlington, VA. Besides being an occasional blogger, I am also a dietitian for Head Start. Working with children has been a passion of mine since I was in school and considering the current rate of childhood obesity and my own time as an overweight child; it is a subject close to my heart. I have also been a contributing author for the website TheGoodCalorie.com which features articles written exclusively by RDNs.
I hope you find something interesting and helpful here as I navigate through the world of nutrition!
